Dick Van Dyke Returns For ‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel
The news that Emily Blunt has been given the starring role in Disney’s upcoming sequel Mary Poppins Returns was just the beginning of the compelling casting news surrounding this project. Hollywood A-listers Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Emily Mortimer will also be appearing the movie, due out in December of 2018. And now we get word that the one and only Dick Van Dyke is on board too.
Disney devotees will remember that Dick Van Dyke appeared in 1964’s Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews. He played the parts of ‘Bert the Chimney Sweep’ and the elderly banker, ‘Mr. Dawes.’ In the sequel, set twenty years after the original, the 91-year-old song-and-dance man will portray Mr. Dawes’ son.
