Charlotte Rescue Mission's summer of Hope Campaign 2008 The Charlotte Rescue Mission is asking the community to help in their efforts to launch a new campaign called “Summer of Hope 2008. We are focusing on the many men and women battling the streets, wanting to live a life clean of drugs and alcohol. Go to charlotterescuemission.org.
Girls on the Run Girls on the Run of Charlotte is a life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. GOTR combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running race with healthy living education, instilling self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training - all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community. The 24-lesson-plan curriculum attempts to change a girl's budding notion that how she looks is more important than who she is. Girls on the Run of Charlotte is an Affiliate Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 100 locations across the United States and Canada.
