Free Trees For Charlotte Residents Today

Where would be without trees? We wouldn't be anywhere. Trees are a vital part of our ecosystem, so the more we have, the better off we'll be. As part of this year's Earth Day observance, you can add a tree to your life at no cost.

TreesCharlotte, an organization dedicated to increasing Charlotte’s tree canopy, invites you to the Glorious Oak Giveaway at City of Charlotte Landscape Management, 701 Tuckaseegee Road on Friday, April 21st, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. If you're a Charlotte resident, you can get up to three free oak trees to plant in your yard. You must show proof of city residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) as well as a valid email address in order to participate.

TreesCharlotte has approximately 150 Willow Oak, Upperton Oak, and Nutall Oak trees that need new homes and it's first come, first served. The trees are six to ten feet tall and will not be reserved or transported, so get there early and bring a truck.

As a tree adopter, you're required to receive mandatory training on how to properly plant and nurture your new tree(s). You'll then be asked to complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form with your home and email address (also mandatory) and declare your pledge to take care of the tree(s). Happy planting!
