Stamp Out Hunger This Saturday

Did you know 49 million Americans are at risk to go hungry? Five million of them are senior citizens. Thirteen million are children! How is a hunger crisis even possible in a country where we seem to have such an overabundance of food choices and no problem throwing a lot of it away? I suppose that's a topic for another blog. Fortunately, U.S. letter carriers have been helping to "stamp out hunger" for a quarter of a century.

The 25th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is this Saturday, May 13th. Over the past twenty-four years, U.S. postal workers have collected over one billion pounds of food for this cause. Locally, it benefits Loaves & Fishes and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. You can help by placing non-perishable food items in a bag by your mailbox on Saturday morning. It's just that easy to make a difference.
