Whooo hooo!

If you’re a duffer, a long-ball hitter, or a ‘shankapotomus,’ you’ll be happy to find out that Charlotte’s long-awaited new golf facility, Topgolf, opens Friday at 9 a.m.!

My hubby Kenny and I were happy to be a part of a media preview night last week at Topgolf to be introduced to the new facility.

It’s pretty incredible!  This 65,000 square foot venue is in SW Charlotte near Ayrsley, on some 14 acres near the intersection of West Arrowood Road and I-485.

It’s mind blowing driving in and seeing the 90-100 foot nets around the driving range part of the facility to protect drivers from those stray balls.

Inside the 65,000-square-foot facility, you’ll find multi-level driving ranges, excellent dining and entertainment options, all in this 33rd location for the Topgolf chain.

Per the Charlotte Business Journal, the facility “includes 102 climate-controlled hitting bays separated on each level, with every bay able to hold as many as six players at one time. The high-tech driving range allows players to hit golf balls, which track a shot’s accuracy and distance.”

Kenny was totally engrossed in his very climate-controlled hitting bay, making shots, getting distance and playing one of the many ‘games’ that the individual bay’s high tech computers show you how to play and then track your shots.

What else to expect?

  • Killler food!  Topgolf’s has a full-service restaurant and two bars. Food “runs the gamut from prime rib smoked in-house to mini loaded potatoes, grilled broccolini and seared scallops”. Also expect signature cocktails and other drinks, and unique and equally desserts  – plus, if you want to get an early start enjoy both breakfast and brunch dishes.

  • Pool tables and a separate dining area, a main bar and 3,000-square-foot private event space

  • Then the third level includes a rooftop terrace, yet another bar, lounge area, fire-pit tables and space for live music.

  • More than 200 high-definition TVs can be found throughout the facility.

I can see this being a very busy facility – with couples and buddies – and families – going out for a night and hitting a few balls and socializing, to both bachelor and bachelorette parties – and birthday celebrations!
