Phil & Mel In The Afternoon

Weekdays 3:00PM-7:00PM

Every summer it’s the same thing! People go on and on about strawberries and blueberries. What about the poor blackberry? If ever there was an underrated, underappreciated piece of fruit, it’s the blackberry. Perfect in pie, yummy in yogurt, and don’t get me started on blackberry cobbler. It’s time to celebrate this noble nugget of goodness at the 16th annual NC Blackberry Festival in downtown Lenoir (West Ave. & Main St.), July 7th and 8th.

Activities include:

– Blackberry eating contest
– Great live music
– Blackberry Glow 5K and Fun Run
– Recipe contests
– Blackberry Belle Pageant
– Kids’ games
– Black”beer”y Beer Garden
– Art, craft, and food vendors.

And I hear that the Colossal Cobbler Parade Brigade is not to be missed. Participants pull wagons filled with cobblers made by local cooks from across Caldwell county and present the world’s largest blackberry cobbler patchwork. For more information about the festival, CLICK HERE.
