The Society for Abandoned Animals exists entirely on public support and unless it can raise GBP 50,000 in the next couple of months it will have to close down. The registered charity started in 1967 and in the last five years alone the charity has rescued and found homes for more than 1,000 cats, 290 rabbits and 262 dogs. The rescue centre is one of the many who are suffering a downfall in donations due to the economic recession. (Photo by Christopher Furlong/Getty Images)

Does anyone know this cat? He is 31.4pounds! He clearly had someone feeding him but was brought in as a stray cat.

While looking for the cat’s owner, they temporarily gave him a name. Due to his sweet personality and kind eyes, he is now being called” Mr. Handsome”.

Mr. Handsome was brought into the animal shelter after he was found hanging out by a person’s house. In order to help him reconnect with his previous owners, a kind hearted individual brought him into the shelter. He is currently on a stray hold which will prevent him from being adopted. This will help ensure that if his owners are missing Mr. Handsome, they will be able to pick him up.

If the owners do not come forward, then he will be available for adoption to the general public. We have a sneaky feeling that he will not be up for adoption for too long!

During his time in the shelter, the employees will help him to monitor his weight. Since he is currently carrying a few extra pounds, he is at risk for some serious health concerns. Whoever ends up adopting this adorable fluff ball will have the ensure the shelter that they will be able to take care of his health needs.

Tiffany Foushee, one of the shelter attendants, told the Huffington Post that if they cannot adopt Mr. Handsome that they should still continue to choose another feline friend. There a lot of animals out there looking for a family and a forever home.
