Phil & Mel In The Afternoon

Weekdays 3:00PM-7:00PM

I feel like I missed out on a common experience of growing up in America. My parents never took me and my sister to drive-in movies. I don’t why. Maybe they were worried we would spill snacks and soda on the upholstery. But isn’t that part of the whole deal? In any case, I’ve been making up for it with my kids the past couple of years. Better late than never.

One of my favorite things about going to Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord is watching the fun holiday movies on the giant high-definition video screen. This holiday season, visitors can catch six different holiday features. The movies will begin at 6:30 PM each night (Thu-Sun), with a second showing immediately following. And you don’t have to wander too far from Christmas K104.7 to hear the movie in your vehicle because the audio is broadcast on 105.1 FM. Here’s this year’s schedule:

11/19: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
11/23-11/26: Frosty’s Winter Wonderland
11/30-12/3: Fred Claus
12/7-12/10: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
12/14- 12/17: Elf
12/18-12/24: The Polar Express
12/28-12/30: Frozen

I recently became aware of Kings Mountains’ Hounds Drive-In,the Sunset Drive-In in Shelby, and Badin Road Drive-In in Albemarle. I’ll have to check those out, too.
