Let Me Tell Ya Bout My Best Friend…………..

15 years ago today, I got a tiny Jack Russell Terrier puppy. My step-son picked her out....he liked that she was the only puppy in the liter that was sleeping, and not jumping around. She was the runt of the liter, and only weighed 4lbs when we took her home.  I named her Gypsy, after the Jimi Hendrix song "Gypsy Eyes."

I'm a big Jimi fan!  To be such a tiny dog, Gypsy was full of spirit! That tiny dog could be seriously destructive, and she had NO fear! My Mom would later tell me that Gypsy was just like me when I was a kid. LOL!  To be such a small dog, Gypsy was definitely a handful.

Two years ago, the vet told me that Gypsy was suffering from kidney failure. The vet said she didn't think Gypsy had long to live. I was absolutely crushed. How this little dog is still alive, I'll never know. I often cook for her, I spend as much time with her as possible, and we snuggle daily. I've been through some extremely difficult times over the past 10 years, and I can honestly say that Gypsy, and my other dog Maxwell, have helped keep me sane. Well, as sane as I can get.

Wishing my best friend a happy birthday today!  I'm lucky she's still with me, and I'm truly blessed that I've been able to have such an amazing dog in my life.  <3
