Jerry Seinfeld Is Everywhere And We’re Loving It
If you ever hear either Mel or I drop a quote from Seinfeld on the morning show, it’s no accident. We’re both huge fans and still watch the re-runs. All the time. My 16-year-old son has caught the bug, too. It’s a lot of fun for me to be able to bond with him over a TV show from my younger days. It must also be gratifying for Jerry Seinfeld to know that his work resonates with people of all ages.
How does Jerry keep doing it? He went from ruling stand-up comedy in the 1980s, to having the #1 sitcom in America in the 1990s, to becoming quite possibly an even bigger star in the digital age. Oh, and he’s still crushing it on stage at the age of 64. I guess that’s called talent.
After Seinfeld came to an end in 1998, Jerry returned to stand-up, which he has always said was his first love. He dabbled in film with 2007’s Bee Movie. Jerry also made occasional TV appearances on The Marriage Ref and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Then he struck new gold with his original web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The automotive-comedy-interview hybrid became so popular that it moved from Crackle to Netflix in 2017. The new season begins on July 6th.
As Jerry Seinfeld has been making the rounds to promote the upcoming episodes of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, it has led to some very entertaining moments on David Letterman’s series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, and Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. You can see clips below. Jerry is also touring this summer and will be coming to Charlotte for an evening at Ovens Auditorium on Saturday, August 18th. Tickets go on sale Friday (6/22). Yes, my son and I will be there.
