Just like Christmas decorations in stores, pumpkin spice-flavored drinks and foods show up earlier and earlier every year. But it turns out that having another slice of pumpkin pie or a few extra pumpkin spice lattes this fall might not be a bad thing.

In fact, there's evidence that, other than the sugar, the ingredients in your PSL may have some real health benefits.

Allspice: According to Fox News, allspice has antioxidant, cancer-fighting, sedative, antiseptic, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties.

Cinnamon: Aside from being delicious, cinnamon may help with controlling blood sugar levels.

Cloves: They have some anesthetic qualities and can soothe toothaches.

Ginger: Often used to treat nausea and menstrual pain.

Nutmeg: WebMD says nutmeg is used to treat things like stomach issues, cancer, kidney disease, pain, and more.

Pumpkin: If your PSL actually has any real pumpkin in it, you'll get some fiber and lots of vitamin A.
