It’s a tradition every year for me to make our son, Hogan, a special cake for his birthday.  It seemed only fitting that given his favorite sport is golf, and he has dedicated himself to it for a large portion of the past 17 years, I would make a golf ball cake.  It has been a labor of love over the last few days as it came together.  So, I thought I would share the process with you.  The recipe is one from my brother-in-law passed on to us years ago.  It was the tradtional birthday cake among his family.  It has become a favorite of ours as well.  I give you the baby food carrot cake.  And, I can never find the apricot baby food it calls for…so just either double the applesauce or substitute pears.  I promise you’ll love it!
