Happy National Taco Day!
I have to admit that I was a more than a little surprised to hear that October 4th is National Taco Day. First of all, shouldn’t it always be on a Tuesday, as in “Taco Tuesday?” And second, October 4th isn’t even his birthday.

Taco Ockerse (right) was born on July 21, 1955, in Jakarta, Indonesia but has spent most of his life in Europe. After launching his career as an actor in the mid-1970s, Taco formed his first musical group in 1979. His biggest hit, a remake of Irving Berlin’s jazz standard “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983.

Can you think of any other one-hit wonders who have their own national day of recognition? Well done, Taco. We salute you!
Oh, and I hear this is also a popular day for eating tacos. Weird coincidence.
