Don’t Give These Holiday Foods To Your Dog
You might be getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, but your dogs are looking forward to Thanks-begging. Can you blame them? Your home is going to smell absolutely heavenly on Thanksgiving Day. But veterinarians warn dog owners to resist the temptation of sharing the feast with Fido.
Plain turkey is okay, as long as you take the bones out (choking hazard!), but a lot of other Thanksgiving foods can be harmful to dogs. The greasy fat in the turkey skin can cause pancreatitis and the seasonings could upset your dogs’ digestive system. That’s not something you want to deal with when you have a house full of guests.

If your dogs are anything like mine, they’ll still be hanging around the dinner table when the dessert is served. You probably already know that chocolate can be poisonous for dogs. Baker’s and dark chocolate are the worst offenders. Milk chocolate and white chocolate are less toxic, but sweets are generally not ideal for the canine constitution.
Other foods to keep away from your dogs this holiday season include grapes and raisins, which can cause kidney damage. Nuts have a high fat content that can lead to pancreatitis, vomiting, and diarrhea. Garlic, onions, and chives can also be a stomach irritant. Salty snacks can cause excessive thirst and urination. In extreme cases, your dogs could suffer from sodium ion poisoning. It’s really best to keep your four-legged friends on their regular diet.
