If you were looking for a reason to start an argument, I found one for you.

Lucas Kwan Peterson, food columnist for the Los Angeles Times, has ranked the fries from nineteen popular fast food chains based on taste and texture. The results may shock you.

According to Peterson, the fries at Five Guys are the very best in all the land. McDonald’s, which is just as famous for its fries as anything else on their menu, comes in second. Del Taco (Western U.S.), Steak 'n Shake, and Arby’s round out the top five.

Carl's Jr, which we know as Hardee's, is sixth on the list, followed by Dairy Queen, Shake Shack, Wendy's, and Burger King. Southern favorite Chick-fil-A, with its distinctive waffle fries, didn't crack the top ten.

As a resident of California, Mr. Peterson could not have included Charlotte's beloved Bojangles' in his ranking. There aren't any locations west of Alabama. But given the chance, Bojangles' seasoned fries would most certainly muscle out some of the others on the Los Angeles Times list.
