Meet The Amazing PIGCASSO
Have you ever seen a pig paint? I hadn’t, until today! Meet Pigcasso….a pig that paints!
Pigcasso was rescued from slaughter as a piglet in 2016 by Joanne Lefson. At her new farm in South Africa, the female pig began showing interest in the paintbrushes lying around her pen. They “were the only thing she didn’t eat,” Lefson says. That’s when Lefson decided to train the animal and name the pig “Pigcasso”.
Lefon taught Pigcasso to paint using a positive-reinforcement technique in which animals receive food rewards. The technique worked, and now Pigcasso paints for food, like an other “starving artist”. You can find out more about the painting pig here, and see Pigcasso painting in the video below.
SO cool!
