Terminally Sick Little Girl Wants Pictures Of Dogs
Yes, I’m crying. Yes, I cried when I read this story two days ago. And yes, I cried when I sent sweet little Emma two pictures of my dog Gypsy.
Emma Mertens is a 7-year-old girl that lives in Wisconsin. Emma is fighting a very rare and inoperable brain tumor called DIPG. Her family set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for Emma’s medical bills but they have also asked for something else. Emma, like a lot of kids, is a big fan of dogs. Her family put up a flier that has gone viral on social media, asking dog owners for their help.
The flier asks for people to help comfort Emma by sending pictures, videos, and letters from their dog or dogs. Wednesday night, when I saw this story, I immediately emailed Emma a letter from my dog Gypsy, who is also dying. I sent her some silly pictures too. My hope is that my tiny effort will help Emma in her time of need.
Anyone can send Emma a dog letter of support. See the flier, Emma’s mailing address, and her email address here. You can contribute to Emma’s GoFundMe account as well.
I’m not sure why this particular story got to me, but it did. Emma’s email has been flooded with letters from doggies all over the country, but I felt the need to send her something. If something this small can help comfort a child in pain, then I am more than happy to do it.
I’m gonna go get a tissue now. Carry on!
