“You’re killing me, Smalls!” We can only hope those words will be spoken again when the beloved 1993 baseball movie The Sandlot goes into extra innings as a new TV series.
More than a quarter century after hitting theaters, the original cast will be reprising their roles. But in 1984, when the series is set to take place, the characters will be parents.
David Mickey Evans, who wrote and directed the movie, is running the reboot. He told the Hollywood Reporter that two seasons of the show have been picked up by “one of the bigger streaming services,” but there are no other details at this time.
Last summer, we heard that a prequel to the movie was also in the works, with Mr. Evans calling the shots on that project, too. And if all of that wasn’t exciting enough, you can meet Tom Guiry (‘Smalls’) at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, July 25th when the Charlotte Knights host The Sandlot Night.
