Now, I don't want to come across as an insensitive person, because I'm not. I have a huge heart and am actually quite sensitive. THAT said, I have a problem with some folks, and I need to express my anger.
This past Saturday, a woman visiting the Wildlife World Zoo in Arizona, decided to climb over a barrier at the zoo to get closer to the jaguar’s enclosure so that she could get a selfie with the animal. The jaguar reached out and grabbed her arm with its paw, leaving lacerations. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The woman has come out to say that she's learned her lesson, but that the zoo should tighten security. I think that as an adult, SHE should have known better. People make me nuts when they become injured messing with wild animals. WILD should tell you that they aren't snuggly like your kitty cat at home.
I'm sorry the woman was injured, but she needs to fully accept responsibility for her actions. SHE knows better. The animal was reacting to her being in it's space. There are too many folks that don't accept responsibility for their actions in our country. Makes my head want to explode!
Luckily, the jaguar will not be euthanized. The zoo tweeted out Sunday, “She’s a wild animal and there were proper barriers in place to keep our guests safe. Not a wild animals fault when barriers are crossed.” Thank you! YES!
Hopefully this will be a lesson to others. Just because a wild animal is being kept in a zoo, does not mean that the animal won't follow it's instincts. You can read more on the story here.
We're supposed to be the smarter species. SUPPOSED to be! Ugh! A good example of stupidity at its finest.
