Phil & Mel In The Afternoon

Weekdays 3:00PM-7:00PM

Have you read Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books, or are you watching the series on Starz? Plenty of people, including my wife, are doing both so I may have to explore the story for myself. If you’re already hooked, you’ll want to visit Historic Latta Plantation this weekend for their Celtic Festival and Outlander After-Party.

Historic Latta is inviting Outlander fans to “party like it’s 1743” on Saturday night from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Enjoy dinner with costumed Scottish Highlanders and dance to live Celtic music in Latta’s charming, historic barn. Tickets include food from The Scottish Cottage, a Scottish Country Dancing workshop, local ale from Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, and Slane Irish Whiskey tastings.

You’ll also want to dress up like the Outlander characters because there will be special prizes for the best “Claire” and “Jamie” costumes. Raffle prizes include a copy of Voyager autographed by Diana Gabaldon; a 4-DVD collection of Outlander Seasons 1-3, courtesy of Outlander North Carolina; Historic Latta family memberships; and Rural Hill Loch Norman Highland Games tickets.

The Outlander After-Party is rain or shine and you’ll need to buy your non-refundable tickets in advance. The Celtic Festival continues on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with authentic music, traditional Irish & Scottish dancers, Celtic warriors, historic encampments, weavers, spinners, blacksmiths, food trucks, whiskey tastings, and beer garden.
