With summer fast approaching, it's time to start planning your next epic road trip.

Whether you're driving to the beach, the mountains, or all the way across the country, no journey is complete without the right soundtrack. So who do you love listening to when you're behind the wheel?

In a survey done by IMR Inc., an automotive market research company, more than 25,000 U.S. consumers ages 18-65 were asked which recording artist they would listen to while gearing up to hit the open highway. The man who gave us "Thunder Road" and "Pink Cadillac" was the top choice:

Bruce Springsteen 24%
Keith Urban 16.4%
Bruno Mars 16.1%
Jimmy Buffett 15.7%
Lady Gaga 11.5%
Taylor Swift 8.6%
Beyonce 7.7%

Bruce understands that a good driving song should make you feel like you're breaking the speed limit even if you're just sitting at your desk. That's why he's included on my road trip playlist:

"Adventure Of A Lifetime" - Coldplay

"Beautiful Day" - U2

"Born To Be Wild" - Steppenwolf

"Born To Run" - Bruce Springsteen

"Eastbound And Down" - Jerry Reed

"Eminence Front" - The Who

"I've Been Everywhere" - Johnny Cash

"La Grange" - ZZ Top

"Ladders" - Mac Miller

"Let It Roll" - Little Feat

"Life Is A Highway" - Tom Cochrane

"Move It On Over" - George Thorogood and the Destroyers

"Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" - Bob Seger

"Runnin' Down A Dream" - Tom Petty

"Use Somebody" - Kings of Leon

"You Worry Me" - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

Phil Harris is 50% of "Phil & Mel in the Afternoon" on K104.7. He has been with the station since 2013 and on the air in Charlotte since 2000. Before coming to the Queen City, Phil worked for radio stations in Pittsburgh, Austin, and Seattle. In addition to the weekly "Throwback Threesome" music video feature, Phil writes about things that matter to Charlotte sports fans and pet owners. He happens to be both.
