The Queen of Pop has also always been the Queen of Reinvention.

Madonna reportedly spent $5 million to stage the performance of her latest single "Medellin" at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. It's a pricey way to promote her upcoming 14th studio album, Madame X (6/14/19), but she's gone up a few tax brackets since the release of her self-titled debut in 1983.

One could argue that the Queen of Pop was born in 1983. The second single from Madonna's first album was "Burning Up," released on March 9, 1983. It wasn't the breakthrough hit that "Holiday" would become nine months later, but the track did peak at #3 on the Billboard U.S. Dance Club Songs chart. More importantly, "Burning Up" was an early indicator that the then 24-year-old singer was royalty in the making.
