Cinco de Mayo is this Sunday. What’s the holiday all about and where are the Cinco de Mayo deals? Tio Felipe is here to tell you.
On May 5, 1862, Mexico defeated the French army in the Battle of Puebla. That sounds significant but it’s not even a federal holiday in Mexico. Mexican Independence Day on September 16th is far more important south of the border.
Some time in the 1980s beer companies saw Cinco de Mayo as a way to encourage Americans to celebrate all things Mexican, especially food and drink. If you want to fiesta with a cerveza and some tacos, there are lots of special offers:
Bar Louie – The University location will host “Cabo de Mayo” celebrations May 3-5 with discounts on shots of Sammy Hagar’s Santo Mezquila, as well as on food and other drinks.
California Pizza Kitchen – Select locations are serving $5 Fresh Agave Lime Margaritas on Sunday.
Chili’s – The Tequila Trifecta, the Presidente Margarita, and draft beer are all $5 each on Sunday.
Chipotle – They’re offering free DoorDash delivery on orders over $10 Sunday.

GrubHub – New customers get $5 off.
