Phil & Mel In The Afternoon

Weekdays 3:00PM-7:00PM

Dolly Parton has confirmed that a 9 to 5 sequel will be ready to start filming in the “next few months.” During an interview on HLN’s “Morning Express with Robin Meade,” the country music icon revealed that the only thing that’s pending are her and her original co-stars’ signatures on the final script. Yes, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin will be in the movie, too.

The sequel is being written by Rashida Jones (The Office, Parks and Recreation, Angie Tribeca) and original screenwriter Patricia Resnick. It will feature three younger women who wonder what happened to the women that formerly worked in the office who were responsible for all the company’s changes.

It will be fun to see how much the 9 to 5 sequel looks back at the original film from 1980. No word if Dabney Coleman will be making an appearance, though. I hope the producers are at least considering including Dolly’s famous theme song. A new version for the soundtrack could be fun. Perhaps a collaboration with a young country artist like Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, or both?
