Unsuspecting Family Ends Up On “Pride Flight” With Drag Queens!
What do you think of when you get on a plane? Nice and quiet…People with earbuds in, reading books, putting up their luggage. For this family, their plane ride was a little different…
For the Powell Family, they got a surprise on their plane. They ended up on Virgin Atlantic’s “Pride Flight,” full of drag queens and a whole lot of glitter.
Taking #Pride celebrations to new heights @VirginAtlantic UK’s first #PrideFlight takes off from Heathrow! With a one-of-a-kind party at 38,000 feet, crewed entirely by LGBTQ+ Virgin Atlantic staff, onboard flight VS69. It will be a fantastic flight! ✈️🏳️🌈 pic.twitter.com/Zd0TKxgtVa

The flight from London to New York was organized to celebrate World Pride 2019 and it wasn’t like any other the British family had been on. There was an entirely LGBTQ+ cabin crew, a host of glamorous drag queens, musical performances and six hours of Pride fabulousness.
The Powells booked the tickets back in September 2018 and weren’t made aware it would be the Pride Flight until later. When it was announced, they were given the opportunity to change to another flight, but the times weren’t convenient, so they decided to stay on the celebratory journey.
They had a blast! The kids bounced in their seats to Lady Gaga songs, chatted with drag queens and had fun from start to finish, mom reports. She also says “the goodie bags were amazing” and included a DKNY watch, a bottle of Lanson champagne, and an Alyssa Edwards makeup palette.
