Fried chicken. YUM! I haven’t had fried chicken in a very long time, and seeing this list made me hungry. Saturday, July 6 is “National Fried Chicken Day” and I think it’s time to indulge.
I found a list of the “Top 10 Best Fried Chicken Spots” in Charlotte that was published by Charlotte Stories back in April, and I know for a fact that some of these spots are very well known.
Growing up in Gastonia and Charlotte, Prices Chicken Coop was a place we would frequent. My mom LOVED their food. It’s still around, and only a block from the radio station. Kinda sad I haven’t been there in years! They are still a take out only spot, and they only accept cash. Every time I drive by it leaving work, there’s a line, so it’s still gotta be amazing. Note to self….go there soon!
Phil has mentioned The Quik Shoppe to me multiple times. It’s also very close to the radio station….at the corner of South Blvd. & East Blvd. It’s a Shell gas station and their are ladies that work there that apparently rock out some serious fried chicken. Another note to self….try it!
There’s a gas station on Hwy 74/Wilkinson Blvd., right across from the Amazon Distribution Center, called Nichols Food Store. Also a gas station, but they have some tasty chicken and tater wedges. Love those! It’s been a while since I’ve eaten there, but if you go in to pay for gas, it’s hard to NOT buy some of their food. Smells amazing.
Enjoy the weekend and indulge in some tasty Southern greatness tomorrow to celebrate “National Fried Chicken Day”. I have now made the decision to grab some. Not sure where, Bojangles, Popeyes, or Nichols…….but I’m getting some! Take a look at the “Top 10” in Charlotte here. Happy eating!
