This Saturday, July 20th marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The historic moment was televised with an estimated 600 million people around the world watching as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first human steps on the lunar surface.

That got me thinking about what else was on TV in 1969, namely the commercials. Advertising looked a lot different fifty years ago. Some of the ads even paid tribute to the astronauts and NASA, as you'll see below:

Alka Seltzer

AMC Rebel

American Medical Association

Cheer Detergent

Chevrolet Camaro

Coca-Cola

Dodge Charger

Ford Mustang

Frosty O's

International House of Pancakes

Kaboom Cereal

Nestea

Pepsi-Cola

Pontiac

Roman Frozen Pizza

Schlitz Beer

Stouffer's

And of course, Tang
