First people literally dying at resorts and hotels in the Dominican Republic had us a bit scared, now there’s the reason for concern about the disease at a prominent Atlanta Hotel.
Apparently, one person has died at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel after contracting Legionnaires’ Disease.
What is Legionnaires’ Disease? It affects the lungs and can leave patients with long-lasting neurologic and neuromuscular symptoms. Authorities think 12 people who stayed at the hotel contracted the disease and officials have identified another 61 possible cases.
All the people who were diagnosed with Legionnaires’ attended a conference at the hotel in early July. Health officials say 1 out of 10 people die from Legionnaires’ disease.
The Sheraton Atlanta has voluntarily shut down while experts do more testing.
