I’ve never been a fan of monster movies unless they’re comedies. Beetlejuice and Young Frankenstein are my kind of horror flicks. Creep me out a little, make me laugh a lot.
My all-time favorite from this sub-genre is The Addams Family from 1991. Raul Julia as ‘Gomez Addams,’ Anjelica Huston as ‘Morticia,’ and Christopher Lloyd as ‘Uncle Fester’ were hysterical. The Addams Family is coming back to theaters in time for Halloween. Only this time, they’ll be animated.
In the 2019 version, Oscar Isaac stars as ‘Gomez,’ Charlize Theron (top) gives voice to ‘Morticia,’ and Nick Kroll is ‘Uncle Fester.’ Ever the misfits, the ghoulish gang finds itself trying to assimilate in New Jersey. The Addams Family opens nationwide on October 11th. The first official trailer is below:
