Carolina Beach Considers Allowing Thong Swimsuits
A trip to Carolina Beach, NC could soon look a little different. On Tuesday (8/13), the town council will be discussing whether to allow people to show more skin on the beach. That could include a green light for thong swimsuits.
The current policy requires that a person’s buttocks be covered while in public places. If changed, the new ordinance would read: “It shall be unlawful for any person to appear on any public beach, any public street or in any public park in a state of dress or undress so as to expose to the view of others the human male or female pubic area, pubic hair, anus, or vulva with less than a fully opaque covering.”
This move would essentially legalize smaller swimsuits. Would your family be more or less likely to visit Carolina Beach if thongs are permitted? If you feel that it’s inappropriate, you wouldn’t have to go far to find more conservative surroundings. Kure Beach, the next town south of Carolina Beach, has a specific ban on thongs.
Swimmers in Spain are getting away with even less clothing. The city of Barcelona is now officially allowing women to be topless at all municipal pools. I’m not even there and I still don’t know where to look.
