If you’re a Prince fan, you had to have known this was coming, but it’s a little confusing. It has been twenty years since 1999. However, this year marks the thirty-seventh anniversary of the late singer’s iconic album, 1999, and it’s being re-released in a big way.
The 1982 album was been remastered and repackaged as a box set. The Super Deluxe edition features an impressive amount of extras. The five CDs or 10 LPs are packed with 65 songs, 35 of which are previously unreleased, plus a book of handwritten lyrics, photos, and extensive liner notes. There’s also a DVD of Prince’s concert at The Summit in Houston on December 29, 1982.
Digital and streaming releases are also set for November 29th, but I would opt for one of the physical versions. Did you know that vinyl album sales are poised to surpass CD sales for the first time since 1986?
