Michael Jordan Launches Tequila Brand With NBA Rivals
There’s more to Michael Jordan’s beverage game than Gatorade. The Charlotte Hornets owner and four other NBA team owners are joining forces to launch a new tequila brand.
M.J. has teamed up with Jeanie Buss of the Los Angeles Lakers, Wyc Grousbeck and wife Emilia Fazzalari of the Boston Celtics, and Wes Edens of the Milwaukee Bucks to create Cincoro, an ultra-premium tequila produced in Mexico. The idea was hatched when they had dinner together a few years ago. Their “party of five” actually inspired the brand name. In Spanish, ‘cinco’ means five and ‘oro’ means gold.
The new tequila is being packaged in crystal bottles that are tilted at a 23-degree angle, a reference to Jordan’s iconic Chicago Bulls jersey number. Prices for Cincoro range from $70 (unaged) to $1,600 (aged 40 to 44 months). Luckily, Cinco de Mayo is still a few months away so you have time to save up.
