When Oktoberfest rolls around every fall, I immediately think of German food, German beer, and German music. But Hickory is doing things a little differently this year by adding the distinctively American flavor of bourbon to their festivities.
Now in its 34th year, Hickory Oktoberfest begins Friday (10/11) and runs through Sunday (10/13) on Union Square in downtown Hickory. In addition to the more traditional food and beverage offerings, this year’s festival includes bourbon tastings from six North Carolina distilleries.
The bourbon tasting will be held from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday (10/12), and the cost is $15 for ten samples. That ought to get a few more people dancing to the Foothills Oompah Band and other musical acts. There will be five entertainment stages at Hickory Oktoberfest.
According to the Hickory Downtown Development Association, the festival has drawn 100,000 people in recent years. For directions, entertainment schedule, and more information, CLICK HERE.
