Signs that it's finally fall:

  • Weather turns cooler.
  • Leaves change color.
  • Corn mazes are navigated.
  • Lattes become pumpkin spiced.
  • Charlie Brown appears on TV.

When I was a kid, any appearance by the Peanuts gang on TV was a special occasion. It meant two things: that a holiday was coming, and that I could watch TV a little bit later than I was normally allowed.

There's also something about watching certain things on live television. Catching a Charlie Brown holiday special when it's scheduled to air is different than streaming it or popping in a DVD. It's more of an event on network TV, even with the commercials. Besides, you can use those breaks to go to the kitchen for more cookies and cider.

This year, Charles Schulz's Halloween classic, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, will air twice on ABC. You can see it Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM and again on Sunday, October 27th at 7:00 PM.

It's pure nostalgia. And there's more on the way with A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving in November and A Charlie Brown Christmas in December. Stay tuned...
