This is welcome news for anyone who wishes they could have seen Hamilton in its original Broadway run. The award-winning musical is heading to movie theaters.

Actor and singer Leslie Odom, Jr. appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last Thursday (11/7) and said, “Hamilton will head to film screens, because cameras shot the original cast while it was performed on stage. It will come out eventually, I know for sure.” We just don’t know when.

Leslie became a household name by originating the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton in 2016 for which he received a Tony® and GRAMMY® Award. Since then, he has appeared in films, TV shows, commercials, and has just released his first original solo album.

If you’re still hoping to see Hamilton live on stage for the first (or fourth) time, the international smash hit will be returning to Charlotte as part of Blumenthal Performing Arts’ 2020-21 PNC Broadway Lights Season. I’ve never seen Hamilton, but everyone I know who has says it’s unlike any show they’ve ever seen.
