Hundreds of Charlotte volunteers packed thousands of boxes for veterans Monday ahead of Thanksgiving.
This has become a yearly tradition that warms the hearts. The Hendrick Auto Group donated 75,000 pounds of food for a good holiday meal this Thanksgiving for those in need. Hendrick employees, along with volunteers from Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and the Wounded Warrior Project, prepared the boxes for more than 3,000 local families.
The food partners with Second Harvest will help designate where the boxes should go and we would just like to say thank you for making this happen within our community. Second Harvest Food Bank noted that more than a half-million people live in poverty in our area, and veterans are a large part of that. You can see more on the story here.
