If you buy a new deck of UNO cards this holiday season, you may notice something different about them. Mattel is removing the red and blue cards. Why? Politics. Apparently, the rule about avoiding political talk during Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner now applies to card games as well.

Mattel's limited edition nonpartisan deck of UNO cards are designed to keep the peace this holiday season. Since blue represents the Democratic Party and red the Republicans, they picked orange and purple as the replacement colors. Of course, purple is what you get when you mix blue and red together.

The special UNO deck also comes with a "veto card," which skips that player’s next turn and makes them change the subject. Hopefully this helps your family forgo the political talk and just enjoy your time together. This will be perfect for my family!
