Just days after attending the Oscars on February 9th, Keanu Reeves was back on set in San Francisco for the fourth installment of The Matrix films. The 55-year-old actor is reprising his iconic role of Neo, alongside Carrie-Anne Moss, who returns as Trinity. “Resurrecting” might be a better word than “reprising,” since both characters died in 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions.
The Matrix 4, which may or may not be its official title, will also feature Jada Pinkett Smith, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Jessica Henwick. One name that is noticeably absent from the casting information is Laurence Fishburne. But, come on. They wouldn’t make another Matrix movie without Morpheus. Would they?
Last week, I discovered that my kids had never seen any of the Matrix movies. Guess what we did over the weekend. It was so much fun to revisit those flicks, especially the first one from 1999, which is, by far, the best of the bunch. The Matrix 4 is slated to be released on May 21, 2021.
