The Call of the Wild may not have been a hit at the box office, but here's another dog story that could put butts in seats. They say good things come in small packages. That’s definitely true of Starla, a little Yorkshire terrier who survived two bullet wounds while protecting a young girl from home intruders.

Dion Ewing’s dog was in her South Fulton, Georgia home with Dion's niece when robbers broke down the door. Starla barked and tried to distract them, but one of the intruders shot her in the front and hind legs. As this was happening, the niece was able to escape through the garage.

Despite her injuries, the Yorkie chased the bad guys to keep them from hurting the girl. The cowardly intruders then got in their car and sped away.

Fortunately, little Starla is expected to make a full recovery. I hope someone in Hollywood is working on a script. Here's more about this harrowing incident:
