Pet Store Has Solution For Chronic Face Touching
Two of the most important things we can do to protect ourselves from Coronavirus are washing our hands and not touching our faces. The first one is easy enough. The second one has proven to be more challenging.
I never realized how many times I ran my hand across my face during the course of a day until I started paying attention to it because of the CDC health warning. A lot. I touch my face a lot. Chalk it up to dry, itchy skin or just a nervous habit, it doesn’t really matter. The point is that I’m not supposed to be doing it but I can’t seem to stop. Well, not without some help anyway.
In a now viral Facebook post, a Beverly Hills pet store owner, Mike Palmer, offered his solution for chronic face touching: the cone of shame. Why not? They prevent our dogs from scratching and biting their injuries. Surely wearing a cone would help cut back on the eye rubbing and forehead swipes.
Citing the CDC’s recommendations to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, Palmer placed a dog cone around his neck to demonstrate how it would work at keeping our hands off our faces. He added a sales pitch for his business, Premier Pet Supply.
If the thought of wearing the cone of shame to work doesn’t appeal to you, there’s one other thing you can try. An old remedy to get children to stop sucking their thumbs is a few drops of hot sauce. Pour some Tabasco or Sriracha on all of your fingers and you won’t want your hands anywhere near your face.
