Charlotte-Area Restaurants Helping Give Kids In Need Lunches During School Closures
All K-12 schools across the state are now closed for at least two weeks due to coronavirus concerns. Governor Roy Cooper issued an executive order on Saturday.
Many children in the school system receive free meals at school, and are affected largely by the school closures.
Because of this, Charlotte-area restaurants are stepping up. The Loyalist Market’s owner, Christopher Sottile has organized a way to give a free sandwich to any child that currently received free lunches in the North Carolina school system, starting 3/17 through 3/30.
The community has already helped to raise the funds on their GoFundMe page to make this possible.
Kids can choose between a grilled cheese, a ham sandwich, or a turkey sandwich.
Participating businesses include:
The Loyalist Market
Baked & Tempered
Good Cup Coffee
True Crafted Pizza
Nothing But Noodles
VeloPops
Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen
Johnson & Wales University
Noble Smoke
Your Mom’s Donuts

I have to give it up to these businesses. We can’t control the circumstances right now, but they are playing a huge role in helping children in need at this time. As a community, we need to come together to support each other right now.
