Here's some encouraging news at a time when we need it most. I found this story and wanted to share these new findings related to the coronavirus. According to three new medical studies, an anti-malarial drug called chloroquine, a.k.a. chloroquine phosphate is showing positive results against coronavirus infections in China, South Korea, Australia, and France.

Professor Didier Raoult, a research scientist at l'Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire (IHU) Méditerranée Infection in Marseille, has reported successful results using Chroniques as a treatment for COVID-19. Early tests suggest it can stop the coronavirus from being contagious in just six days.

The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is also studying the effectiveness of chloroquine phosphate against COVID-19. There, it has also been used to treat patients with autoimmune diseases, such as lupus.

A product similar to chloroquine is quinine, one of the ingredients in tonic water. The bitter-tasting quinine comes from the bark of the cinchona tree. Tablets of bark extract are widely available from many retailers, including Amazon. Of course, you can find tonic water at any grocery or liquor store, but it doesn't contain nearly as much quinine as the tablets.

Please note that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warn against using unapproved medications claiming to treat or prevent COVID-19. They also caution that antibiotics will not work against coronavirus. Antibiotics should only be used to fight bacterial infections. COVID-19 is a virus, and viruses are not affected at all by antibiotics.

If you're experiencing any coronavirus symptoms, you can call the Novant Health helpline at 1-877-9-NOVANT.
