This past January my mom came to town for my 50th birthday. We checked out a local store she loves and then had lunch at a new place in downtown Gastonia. It had just recently opened, so we thought we’d check it out.
We went to Barrister’s at The Esquire Hotel and it was fabulous! We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, one of my favorites, and then we both had a sandwich. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was really good. We had an amazingly tasty dessert and they wrote happy birthday on the dessert plate. It was obvious by the taste of the food that Barrister’s used extremely fresh ingredients. Just an excellent experience overall!
Because of the current situation we are all in due to the coronavirus, restaurants are unable to serve people within their establishments. Many local restaurants will take quite a hit, and many restaurant workers are now out of work. For many years I worked in the restaurant industry. It’s hard work and you live off of tips. Because every restaurant is now only serving to-go food, there are many people that are experiencing hardships. I have been there and I get it.
This Saturday, March 28, Barrister’s in Gastonia will be holding a BBQ from 11 A.M to 8 P.M. For each $8 plate sold, Barrister’s will provide a meal voucher to the Travel and Tourism Board of Gaston County to assist in providing meals for the community of unemployed hospitality workers in the area being impacted by COVID-19. Family meal packs will also be available and will provide 2 meal vouchers for every family meal sold.
Now, more than ever, we all need to continue to visit local establishments! So many different restaurants, Barrister’s included, are offering family meals daily for an amazing price. I love that we are all coming together to help others in our communities.
The info on the BBQ this weekend is below. Come out and have some tasty food and help out some folks in need during this crazy time. Lets all make sure to try and continue to support local businesses. Stay safe!
