Protect Your Kid From Predators
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, there’s been a rise in sexual predators targeting our children. If mom or dad has to work from home, the focus is on work rather than monitoring the kids. The computer becomes the babysitter and or the cell phone, and that’s the gateway into the house and child’s bedroom or any room for that matter.
FBI is cracking down on these predators, but that can’t do it alone, but you can’t monitor the kids 24/7 either. So is it time to have the talk with the kids about a new kind of stranger-danger? Yes! These strangers pose as a teen or try to match the age of your child, and the meeting places are social media chat rooms.
Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
