Multiple generations of music fans were looking forward to this tour but the Doobie Brothers’ long-awaited reunion with Michael McDonald will have to wait. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the band’s 50th anniversary outing has been postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19.
The band made the official announcement on Tuesday (5/26), saying that the decision to reschedule was “made with the health and safety of the Doobie Brothers’ fans, crew and local employees in mind.”
The extensive 53-date tour was set to be the Doobie Brothers’ first full tour with Michael McDonald since 1996. They were scheduled to play PNC Music Pavilion on June 19th. The rescheduled Charlotte show is set for July 26, 2021 and current tickets will be honored.
We’ll also have to wait to see the Doobie Brothers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 2020 ceremony has been moved to November 7th.
