How about a little good news this week? And this story actually comes from Minnesota. CNN reports that a World War II veteran from the small town of Clarks Grove is celebrating his next big birthday with a big act of kindness.

How big is this birthday? Mickey Nelson will turn 100 on June 27th. And the celebration? He's walking one mile a day for 100 days to raise funds for coronavirus relief. And all while his beloved wife is quarantined away from him in a nursing home.

Mr. Nelson calls his project “Walking to 100” and he's already racking up the miles and the money. Donors have contributed more than $85,000 so far and all of the money will go to The Salvation Army’s feeding and emergency programs. This intrepid veteran's efforts will help feed thousands of people.

The soon-to-be centenarian told CNN, “I believe all of America, Democrat or Republican, should be united in helping the less fortunate among us. We are the United States of America and that is what my generation fought for.” God bless you, Mickey Nelson.
