John Travolta Is In A Record-Breaking Slump
Would someone please send John Travolta a good script as soon as possible? The actor we know and love for his terrific performances in Saturday Night Fever; Grease; Welcome Back, Kotter; Urban Cowboy; Pulp Fiction; Get Shorty; and Hairspray, has a set a new record for flops.
According to ShowBiz 411, Travolta’s last five releases were given a 0 rating by both critics and bloggers on Rotten Tomatoes. The five films are Life on the Line, Gotti, Speed Kills, The Trading Point, and The Poison Rose. It could have been six movies, but The Fanatic, which was released in the UK, was never released to Rotten Tomatoes and was not submitted to any critics. Ouch.
Many major film stars have gone through slumps, only the rise from the ashes more triumphant than ever. Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Affleck come to mind. John Travolta has proven himself at the box office time and time again. He just needs another Pulp Fiction to pull him out of these doldrums.
By the way, if you’ve never seen Travolta in Lucky Numbers from 2000, give it a chance. It co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Ed O’Neill, Tim Roth, Michael Rappaport, and Bill Pullman. Highly underrated.
