Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 21. THIS Sunday! Is it just me or is time flying? I don’t know about you but I have a hard time buying for my dad.
My dad used to be easy to buy for. I would usually find some type of festive chocolate gift, and I’d be good to go! But my dad doesn’t indulge like he used to. At 78 years old, my dad is a gym rat. He competes in powerlifting (he started in his 70’s) so he is very particular about what he eats. His chocolate eating has decreased significantly over the years. The only other thing my dad likes is Carolina Tarheel merchandise and he has a TON of tees and sweatshirts as it is.
When I was looking through this list of the “45 Best Father’s Day Gifts” I found some cool stuff. Even stuff for picky dad’s like my dad. For whatever reason, my dad now tells jokes. When I was growing up, he didn’t tell jokes. This is something he’s started relatively recently. The “101 So Bad, They’re Good Dad Jokes” book got my attention immediately! This is perfect for the dad that likes to tell silly jokes.
If you’re dad has a beard (or your husband/boyfriend) then “The Official Beard Bib” is a must have! Not only will dad appreciate the gift, mom will too! No more little hairs all over the bathroom. Total score for everyone!
If your dad likes a cocktail, there are numerous drink related gifts on this list. The “Carry-On Cocktail Kit” is especially crafty. This is perfect for the dad that travels lots. With ingredients for Bloody Mary’s, Moscow Mules, and Hot Toddies, dad just has to add booze for a lovely in-flight cocktail. Sweet!
There are gifts for the building dad, the cooking dad, and the dad that has little kids. You can check out all the gifts here. Whether or not you get dad a gift, make sure to show him some love on Sunday.
My dad sent me this picture early this morning….it came up in his memories on Facebook. It’s a pic I post almost every year for Father’s Day. It’s my younger brother and I with my dad in the early 70’s. Cuteness!
