You Only Need To Wash Three Body Parts A Day

Author Melany Myers
June 23rd, 2020 5:36 AM

Lots of folks are working from home now because of the pandemic which means hygiene habits have changed some. I’ve chatted with some friends that are now working from home and they all say that they aren’t showering every day.

According to one doctor, you don’t need to bathe every day. You really only need to wash three parts of your body with soap daily: your armpits, groin, and feet. The rest of you? A simple rinse with water is all you need.

Dr. Sandy Skotnicki, assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Toronto, says that scrubbing your body head to toe with soap and water can lead to problems like eczema and other skin conditions. Instead, she says to just focus on the certain areas mentioned above.

Makes sense, since warm/hot water can dry out your skin. I have to shower in the morning before work because it wakes me up. And at 3 AM I gotta do what I can to perk up! Now weekends are a different story. If I’m not going anywhere I’ll skip a day of showering and just throw a hat on to walk my pups.

Has your daily shower routine changed since the pandemic? Read more details about the showering study here.
