You Can Go Fishing Without A License In NC On July 4th
One of the few positive side effects of the coronavirus pandemic has been the fishing boom. As social distancing rules have limited the types of activities we can enjoy, a lot of folks have picked up their rods and reels. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is encouraging more of this behavior with “Free Fishing Day.”
On July 4th, anyone in North Carolina, regardless of age, can drop a line in the water without a license. “Free Fishing Day” applies to both residents and visitors from out-of-state. However, all other state fishing regulations will still apply, including fish length and daily possession limits.
On every other day of the year, you are required to purchase a fishing license in North Carolina. You can learn more about that HERE.
